Testing….123 Testing 123
January 17, 2006 – 7:25 amYes, I admit, after going out and having to purchase the application to conduct the voting polls, an expense we really did not want to factor into the awards, we are experiencing some growing pains. We are working on the settings to allow some IP’s to vote every 24 hours, if possible. I say if possible, because I have yet to determine if this is possible with this software. Rest assured, we are working as diligently as possible and I will announce when the problem is fixed.
Since I’m in confession mode, I must also admit that after working into the morning multiple nights on the voting polls and the awards, I had to take a bit of a breather. I had to see if my family still lived in my house and whether I could put a couple of hours of sleep together in a row. Tris, Shylah and the rest of the panel I’m sure had the same sigh of relief to be past the second stage of the awards. I’ll keep you up-to-date as we get these voting polls working.
UPDATE Oh yeah, and if anyone wants to take a crack at finding the bad part of code on the site that is messing up in IE, I would be very greatful.

I just want to say that we really really appreciate what you and the rest of the team are doing for bloggers and the blogworld out there. You have all taken incredible time, effort and, it seems, money as well in order to do this for us and it is very, very much appreciated. This is a wonderful way to share great blogs from all round the world and covering all kinds of different issues..
Thank you, thank you, thank you….

We do really really appreciate you. Even if we complain! Promise. Thank you thank you! Even just for introducing me to some really spiffy blogs!

Thank you for all your hard work on this. Just wondering why you feel it is necessary or desirable to let people vote more than once? Maybe if that is problematic it is better to make sure that people CAN’T vote more than once, as long as the same standard is applied to everyone.

Thanks for all your hard work and effort. It is appreciated.
FYI - In Internet Explorer the middle column displays under the left hand column. When you visit this site in IE it looks like there is no content. People have to scroll way down to see where to vote. I finally tried browsing here with Mozilla, looks much nicer.
It does however put IE users at a disadvantage when voting.

Really, I do appreciate your work!! and everyones! i know how hard it is to do this kind of thing for the love of it.
and even if 1/30 seems like a sadisticly long period to beg my readers to vote, and i can never seem to vote more than the first time i did (as neither can many of my readers apparently)
I know this is a bear and you aren’t getting paid a 6 figure salary with 2 months paid vacation….
I DO understand… and THANK you.
wish i could help you on the IE problem

btw, i have hypothesis as to why some people can’t vote again (or the first time for some)... it might be totally wrong… but here goes…
My friends and I have been testing it, one has a PC/windows/IE, one has a Mac/Safari. i have Mac/Safari and my partner has a PC/windows/IE. I, my partner and the mac friend have never been able to vote more than once. Whereas the PC/W/IE friend has voted 3 times now she says.
The only difference we’ve been able to gather is that the three of us check results occasionally (between trying to vote), whereas the PC/friend never checks.. only to vote.. and only more than 24 hours later…
perhaps even just checking results makes it count as if you voted?

Thank you for all you do. You are appreciated. I think people are concerned about the legitimacy of the vote count due to these problems. Perhaps you could consider decresing the percentage the popular vote is calculated in the final results since these problems have been so rampant. Or consider restarting the votes so the blogs that have been disadvantaged by not being able to vote more than once can restart on equal footing. Or allow people to only vote once instead of once a day and start over.
Just my .02 and a reminder that everyone appreciates all that you do and you do need to see your family!

Or make the popular vote a lesser part of the overall equation? My votes have leaped ahead just today, and I’ve gotten tons of emails from people saying they were finally able to vote a second time, so something has changed, for sure.
