Best Of Blog Awards Still Going Strong

Since nominations started just under a month ago (look for an announcement to be made this week as to a possible extension due to the first week’s technical issues) I’ve gotten several emails from people wondering how this whole awards thing works. Thus I thought maybe now would be the perfect time to recap just a few of the ground rules.

1. As part of our continuing efforts to make the Best Of Blog awards the best that they can be, we are now allowing bloggers to nominate their own sites!!
2. Any blogger or blog reader may nominate a blog by going to the appropriate category on each nomination page and leaving the URL to the blog as a comment. Only blogs receiving less than 250 original visits a week are allowed to be nominated.
3. After the nomination period, the panelists assigned to each specific category will weed through the nominations and pick what they think are the 10 most deserving blogs in that category. Panelist decisions will be based first on blog content and second on user-friendliness; a blogs visual design will only be a minor consideration.
4. The fans will then vote on a their favorite in each category.  100% of the popular vote will be used to pick the winner.
5. Political blogs, technical blogs, and marketing blogs are excluded from this competition. (“Political” blog here means a blog devoted almost exclusively to politics, where 50% or more of the entries are politically oriented.)

So there you have it. Nominations are still going strong and we are a little hesitant to end them while they keep coming hot and heavy. This has been a fantastic year so far and a big thanks needs to go out to all of those that have nominated their favorite blogs. Remember time is running out on the nominations so get your site in while it counts!
