Giving The Little Guy A Chance To Be Heard
March 27, 2008 – 9:32 pmI’m not exaggerating when I say that the best part of the Best Of Blog awards is getting to look at all the nominations. Later on after the nomination phase has passed the rest of the jury and myself will be going back to look at them more closely (remember 250 hits or less per week), but for now I’m just soaking up the wonderful sites that have been sent to us this year. I wish I could go through and let you know some of the awesome sites I’ve seen, unfortunately we’ve got to keep this thing fair.
As a daddy blogger who writes a few times a week on my site The Adventures Of Charlie Blockhead, I’m amazed by the ways people open up and just lay it all out there everyday for the world to see (especially those up for Best Sex and Best LGBT). Another thing that I find inspiring is the number of writers who are blogging about health issues they are going through. From mom’s dealing with breast cancer and fertility issues (I still check out last year’s runner up The Open Window) to people struggling to lose weight to those writers who are venturing into the blog waters for the first, the BoB’s are what blogging is all about. Through blogging we are creating communities, establishing life long friendships, and making the world a smaller place to live in.
Think about it this way, would you go up to a perfect stranger and tell them how much you enjoyed some story you just overheard them telling? Of course not, but you’ll visit their blog everyday and leave the occasionally comment. Not to mention blogging knows no boundaries. Just look at the 23 categories we have this year. You think it was easy narrowing down all the possible topics to 23! Not in the slightest, but we do the BoB’s year in and year out for one reason…..to lift up those great unheard voices that pour their hearts out every week and give them a chance to be seen above the rest of the pack.
