Lots of travel from a personal perspective—emphasis on the journey not the landscape. Recent month-long trip to the Middle East
( January/February ) and Eleuthera, Bahamas. In the past year, Ireland including bike trek through County Clare.
Lives in NYC, so some critiques of film, Broadway, music events.

Susie’s Big Adventure is a wonderfully educational and exciting blog about life in Saudi Arabia. I recommend it as a timely look at the ins and outs of life as a woman in the mideast experiences it.

I have to nominate VioletEclipse.Blogspot.Com! This is an amazing account of a young American woman living in Beijing and her adventures. It’s not entirely a travelogue, but everything she talks about is tinged with expat life!

Can I second Felicia Shelton’s three nominations above and also Susanne’s http://www.beijingnotebook.blogspot.com above? All of these blogs really capture the places evocatively and provide original insights into the cultures and destinations.

Please consider Epicurienne at
http://epicurienne.wordpress.com
She has a refreshing take on life around the globe and throws in a bit of philosophy, courtesy of Epicurus, that great ancient Greek philosopher. It keeps everything she writes about in check – travel, food, good times (and bad). Even though it’s a small blog so far, I’m addicted.

Always wanted to live on a tropical island? See how it’s done…really done…everything from the exquisite (sunsets) to the mundane (trying to buy a part for a dryer). Gringo, La Gringa (and Dooley the dog) and have immersed themselves in the place they chose to live – places that most of us will never see on our tropical vacations. Wonderful photos accompany stories and anecdotes of their life “so far”.

By Luxury on May 21, 2008
Well of course I am going to vote for 2Gringos, since I know them personally! And their funny looking little salty dog. But this blog is really not much about either travel nor leisure. It’s more about assimilating into a small, tropical island nation. This is not about a vacation, it’s about a total lifestyle change. From New Jersey to the Tropics.

I have been following this site from day one and have -walked the Camino, -lived in small villages in Spain for months at a time with my wife for over several different years, acted as hospitalero(s) on the Camino in Rabanal and Miraz and can say without question that from my observations Rebekah’s blog is outstanding in its depiction of life in rural Spain with all its special mix of character testing trials, euphoric festivities, and gentle serenity leaving you, at once, feeling triumphant, humble and blest.
